7 workers killed in wall collapse at construction site in Gujarat’s Mehsana

Seven construction workers were killed when a wall collapsed on them at a construction site in Gujarat’s Mehsana district on Saturday, police said. A rescue operation is underway, fearing that more workers could be trapped under the debris.
The incident occurred when several labourers were digging a pit for an underground tank for a factory near Kadi town, approximately 37 km from the district headquarters.
After the wall collapsed, the workers were buried alive under loose soil.

In an incident at a construction site in Mehsana, several workers were trapped when a private company’s building collapsed around 1:45 pm, according to District Development Officer Dr Hasrat Jasmine.
“As per our information, 9-10 people were trapped, out of which 6 bodies have been recovered,” Dr Jasmine said. A 19-year-old boy was pulled out alive, offering hope to rescuers. Based on his account, there were 8-9 workers on site, and efforts continue to free the remaining 2-3 people. “We pray to God that we rescue them alive,” she added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the wall collapse accident in Mehsana, Gujarat, calling it “extremely sad.”
He offered his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, saying, “May God give them the strength to bear this pain.”
PM Modi also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the local administration, under the state’s supervision, is providing all possible assistance to the victims.
Mehsana Superintendent of Police Tarun Duggal confirmed the death toll, as the rescue operations continued.
